John Chaney’s Against the Wind Ranch Leadership Adventures

TEAM BUILDING – WITH A HORSE!

Team building without the boardroom and the slide presentation! John Chaney’s Against the Wind Ranch Leadership Adventures are specifically designed to bring people together with horses, to create a dynamic learning opportunity.

It’s not about riding or horsemanship, so no experience with horses is needed. All activities are performed on the ground.

Challenging activities provide opportunities for cooperation, collaborative decision making, and commitment to mutual objectives - just what you need for a high performance team! This interactive, experiential process encourages people to think on their feet and step outside their comfort zone. It is unforgettable, innovative and different, unlike any experience gained in a boardroom, classroom or office.

Experiential learning is proving to be more effective than some other traditional behavioral change approaches. Equine experiential learning has the added element of horses with different personalities, attitudes, and moods. The horse is a powerful, energetic and metaphoric mirror of us in the present moment. How each of us uniquely communicates and approaches situations in our life is openly reflected in the horse’s response to us. Beyond experiencing the benefits in the arena, we will also show you how to integrate what you have learned back into the workplace, and to take your groups’ performance and productivity to the next level.

Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA)
John Chaney performs his Leadership Adventures through his affiliation with the Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA). John is a Certified Equine Specialist (horse professional) with EAGALA.
Founded in July 1999, EAGALA is a non-profit organization developed to address the need for resources, education, and professionalism in the field of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) and Equine Assisted Learning (EAL). www.eagala.org

EAP and EAL are emerging fields in which horses are used as a tool for emotional growth and learning. The sessions are experiential in nature in that individuals learn about themselves, and others, by participating in directed activities. The horse team member(s) are the key element in bringing forth issues clients may not otherwise be able to access. Clients participate in challenging activities that manifest new insights into themselves and give them new possibilities in life. Each encounter concludes with conversations reviewing the events, their feelings, behaviors, patterns and actions to make positive changes in their lives.

For corporations, groups or organizations interested in team building (as well as families or individuals seeking counseling, therapy or EAP), John Chaney works in conjunction with licensed professionals in these fields.

Workshops, camps and retreats for adults, and disabled and at-risk youth are in the developmental stages. Against the Wind Leadership Adventures can accept tax-deductible donations of horses, vehicles, farm machinery, tack and buildings through it’s affiliation with EAGALA (a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization).
